Easy Homemade Sweet & Sour Chicken

Save on that expensive Chinese take away with this sweat and sour sauce recipe, paired with our super succulent Glenhaven Battered Chicken Fillet Balls! It’s so speedy to bring together and you probably have all the ingredients in your kitchen cupboards too! This easy dinner recipe is great for a Friday family night in.

  • Yields: 4


1 Genhaven Foods Battered Chicken Balls 360g pack.

300 g rice

100 g brown sugar

100 g malt vinegar

300 g tomato ketchup

400 g pineapple chunks in juice

2 tbsp soy sauce

2 onions, cut into chunks

1 red pepper, cut into chunks

1 yellow pepper, cut into chunks


1Heat your oven as per the instructions on the Glenhaven pack, remembering that ovens may vary slightly.

2Place your Glenhaven Chicken balls into the oven and bake as per the pack instructions.

3Place your rice on to cook as per the instructions on the pack.

4In a pan on a low heat, combine the sugar, vinegar, ketchup, pineapple and soy. Simmer gently for a couple of minutes.

5Add in the prepared vegetables and cook for a further 10 minutes on the hob.

6Serve immediately once everything is cooked through.
